CHADA KATAVI PEOPLE - Mark & Kristen Vibbert
Mark & Kristen came to Chada from Uganda, although both are American. Mark was actually born and grew up in East Africa, but studied in the US where he met Kristen. They've been all over!!! They worked in Southern Sudan in the mid 1990s, then Burundi until 1998 before settling in Nairobi; Mark worked as a freelance guide and Kristen taught English.
Then they worked at Elsa's Kopje in the Mara and then Semliki Lodge in Uganda's Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve. In 2009 Mark became Managing Director of the Wild Places Conservation Trust, working with conservation efforts in the area, whilst Kristen established community initiatives and coordinated healthcare in the local community.
They arrived in Chada at the end of May and declared that they had died and gone to heaven!!! We wonder if we'll ever get them to take leave!!
